This project seeks to capitalize on the cultural, rural and social identity of the Moudros region and empower students to become aware, capable and active citizens, with roots in their place and wings for the world. The action “Roots and Wings – Citizens of the Place and the World” aims to strengthen the active citizenship of students through the cultivation of local awareness, ecological sensitivity, democratic values and social participation. In an island, border environment like Lemnos, the action connects local cultural and productive identity with the global challenges of sustainability, emigration, integration and the climate crisis. The vision served by this specific active citizen action plan for the “Argyrios Moschidis” Moudros High School in Lemnos, a border school with a strong agricultural and livestock element, is to cultivate responsible, active citizens with values, social sensitivity and ties to their place, capable of contributing to sustainable development and strengthening local identity. The vision includes supporting experiential and inquiry-based learning, with the active participation of students in authentic everyday life situations.
