In the planned lesson sequence, the plastic waste problem and the topic of microplastics will be addressed and a possible solution will be demonstrated using the example of the “cradle to cradle” concept. In addition, a selection of school classes will receive a theory lesson on ESD before the lesson sequence described here. The content of this theory lesson is the concept of sustainability and a closer look at the SDGs. A further optional lesson is scheduled after the lesson sequence and serves as a reflection lesson. The lessons are designed according to the research-development teaching method. The ESD guiding principle “Recognise. Evaluate. Act.” is realised in each of the lessons by creating a connection to everyday life (Recognise), developing and critically discussing the content as part of the lesson (Evaluate) and demonstrating the need for action and options for action (Act)
