The Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027) is a comprehensive strategy by the European Commission aimed at enhancing digital education across Europe. This plan seeks to capitalize on the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, during which digital tools were used extensively in education. The plan has two main priorities: fostering the development of a high-performing digital education ecosystem and enhancing digital skills and competencies for digital transformation. It emphasises the importance of high-quality, inclusive, and accessible digital education, promoting stronger cooperation at the EU level to modernize education and training systems. Key actions include improving digital literacy, integrating digital technologies into teaching methods, and providing the necessary infrastructure for effective remote learning (European School Education Platform).
The Action Plan stresses the need to ensure that all teachers and trainers have the confidence and competencies to use technology effectively and creatively to engage and motivate their learners as well as to ensure that all learners develop their digital competencies for learning, living and working in an ever more digitalised world. SYNAPSES Academy will support educational institutions to improve their capacity to adapt, promote innovation and exploit the potential, and also in the use of technologies and digital content, by equipping teachers with digital skills.
