The main topic of this workshop is municipal waste and waste management, structured into four comprehensive lessons. The first lesson covers the types of waste we produce and methods of waste separation, including practical activities like creating a “plastic island” and building a composter, highlighting the Living Lab Project’s role in managing food waste through community involvement.

In the second lesson, students learn about the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) and explore national strategies for waste management. They engage in discussions and activities to understand waste collection, transportation, and recycling processes, brainstorming and presenting ideas for products made from recycled materials.

The third lesson is a hands-on session where students create a sustainable wallet from beverage containers, fostering creativity and practical application of recycling principles.

The final lesson addresses the environmental impacts of waste, such as air, water, and soil pollution, and the effects on wildlife and human health. This lesson emphasizes the importance of responsible waste disposal and recycling, encouraging students to adopt sustainable practices and protect the environment.

Overall, this workshop aims to educate and inspire students to reduce waste, use reusable packaging, recycle, and creatively repurpose potential waste, fostering a commitment to sustainability.
