Language is the key to expressing concepts and sharing knowledge. A higher awareness of sustainability and interconnectedness with individual, groups and environments as well as an appreciation of linguistic aesthetics can be explored in these lessons. Through an examination of the language used in select poems by Robert Frost, prose by Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer (Braiding Sweetgrass regarding indigenous wisdom and the re-telling of stories of creation) and Sandra Cisneros (The House on Mango Street regarding family an Mexican-American realties), opportunities will be created for reflection and transfer.
