This educational action aims to foster students’ environmental awareness and active citizenship by exploring the consequences of climate change, including natural disasters and forced population displacement.
It consists of five key phases:
1. Exploration Phase: Students engage with real-life stories of “climate refugees” and investigate the causes of extreme weather events. Through group research, they explore environmental threats, local prevention measures, and community initiatives.
2. Preparation and Planning Phase: Students organize their data, define key local issues, and set goals. They develop an intervention plan using tools such as SMART goals and the Project-Based Learning methodology.
3. Action Implementation: Students take on specific roles in teams and create awareness-raising materials (e.g., videos, infographics, podcasts). They collaborate with local stakeholders and carry out their intervention within the school or local community.
4. Dissemination and Outreach: Students promote their work through digital media, local press, blogs, and school websites. They also connect with other youth groups or European initiatives (e.g., Erasmus+), sharing experiences and broadening their impact.
5. Reflection: Through structured discussion and creative activities (e.g., poster creation), students reflect on the knowledge and skills they gained, their emotional engagement, and their future commitment to sustainable living.
The action integrates principles of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), encourages collaboration and critical thinking, and empowers students as informed, responsible, and proactive citizens.
